April 2007
Dear IMBC member,
We are happy to announce that the 8th International marine Biotechnology Conference, March 11-16, 2007 in Eilat, Israel (IMBC 2007) was a great success attracting more than 350 delegates from twenty seven countries, including scientists, researchers, industrial representatives, students and accompanying persons. We feel that the IMBC 2007 has been one of the most productive and enjoyable IMBCs ever. The scientific content of the oral and poster presentations was of the highest quality and very innovative. The three roundtable sessions were well attended and generated lively and useful discussions leading to new research ideas. Student and industry participation was beyond expectation. The Eilat venue with its lovely spring temperatures, proximity to the beautiful red sea and the back drop of the spectacular Jordanian mountains was appreciated by all. The hospitality extended by our IMBA, the National Organizing Committee and the Conference Agent was exceptional. And the food at the Dan Eilat Hotel....well, there are no words to describe its quality and diversity, a real gourmet cuisine that obliterated all well-meaning attempts at calorie restriction. We hope that the conference get-together established direct contact and a close network among all the participants and formed a basis for future collaboration.
Thank you all for contributing to the success of IMBC 2007. We will stay in touch with all of you and certainly hope to see everyone in Qingdao, China the venue for IMBC 2010.
Best regards,
On behalf of the IMBC 2007
Ami Ben-Amotz, Conference Director
Yonathan Zohar, IPC, Chair
Benny Ron, National Organizing Committee (NOC), Chair
Hillel Gordin, NOC, Secretary Bill Koven, NOC, Treasurer
